So, my take from that whole situation was that they already knew we would not be in the room that we booked and tried to sell the upgrade even though they were going to give us that anyway. However, when the time to check in came, they got us a room upgrade to the master with ocean view for free, which was amazing, and the excuse was that the standard room was under maintenance. We could even have breakfast! We had booked a standard room with no view and at that moment, they tried to sell us a room upgrade for $50 a night to have ocean view, which we declined. At the hotel, they said we could not check at that time but that we could use all their infrastructure already. Our flight got in Cancun at 9am and we headed to the hotel to leave our bags.
